Lazer loop!
To achieve such a needle shaped loop, you must POINT with finger, at the very end of a casting stroke. The stroke should be not too long. One important thing too: SLP (straight line path) of your rod tip must be absolute straight !!!

Very unique cast!!! I found this one as a more than useful for a numerous fishing situations …
It looks like the originator of this cast, Gunter Feuerstein (GF) is hauling with both hands, at the same time !!!

For all those people who appreciate Central European fly castingĀ school, with pointer-on-top grip, elegant and short casting stroke with high efficiency – there is video clip exactly for them!
Sepp Fuchs, EFFA Master Fly Casting instructor, with his short casting stroke during fly fishing meeting in Bohinj, Slovenia in 2005.
Straight Line Path (SLP) of the rod tip is very much needed for efficient tight loop casts.
There is one tip to help you about this:
- always move your rod’s tip top (finger, hand) straight and paralel with the water where you wade, or paralel with shore line (lake or river). Have a look at the pic below!

One of the most common fault during switch/spey casting is this one (red arrows on the pic below)!
Try to avoid too long anchor with these tips:

Or “Push the Loop”!!!
How to improve line speed, shape of the loop (tighten the loop), add more distance and be efficient?
Just “enter” the loop, immediatelly AFTER the stop motion (in split second)!!! You can do this by simple movement: put your tip top of the pointer (index finger) into the empty space between upper and lower leg of the loop formation!!! (see the pic below)
Of course, your casting stroke just BEFORE the stop has to be made in gradualy accelerated way (speed-up-and-stop!).
This “entering” of the loop shouldn’t be described unproperly, like “late rotation” or something similar (many use this, but it’s wrong explanation!), because “rotation” is a rough word to explain such a gentle and smooth, pinpoint motion!
You can “rotate” a bottle of wine when empty, or your tires when blow out, or your eyes when see someone talks too much (bla, bla) – but never “rotate” your finger during most artistic and gentle sport – flycasting!

This clip shows how overpowering during casting stroke damage cast, by causing tailing loop.
How to solve this?

With distance fly casting, everything has to be longer:
Also, high aiming is needed!
Of course, keep SMOOTH all of these above! And RELAX your grip!
Dieter Weiler, EFFA Master FCI, while performing distance roll cast of 18+ meters, showed in slow motion! All elements of the cast can be seen clearly.
